It doesn’t get much better than this…..

One of my favorite places on the planet with the crescent Moon and Venus as companions.

Taken October 15, 2009 with my Nikon D70.

It’s going to snow in New Mexico tonight, so I’m glad I had the opportunity to enjoy some exceptional sky and weather while visiting Texas.

The past few days were absolutely wonderful!

Almost perfect weather ( a little dewy) and great friends at Fort McKavett.

Was great to see everyone and visit….see ya’ll next Spring!

BTW- I saw some nice Orionid meteors while there.

with this little guy- found him near where the telescope was set up early in the afternoon.

He was about the size of a quarter, and just about the cutest little critter I’ve seen in the desert.  When I was a kid I used to see them more often, but now not so much.

Visually I did not see anything, but I was recording video so possibly captured something on tape.

I will post more when I find that out.  In the meantime, this was my set up at the Albuquerque Astronomy Society’s site.  That glaring light coming off the tailgate of my truck is the Moon on a monitor.  It was very bright and moonlight illuminated the parking lot quite nicely.
